Word Ladder Puzzles
Lewis Carroll invented this fun game that your students will enjoy. He called them "Doublets" but they later became known as Word Ladders.
Students climb a ladder, solving each word (rung) at a time, usually with a hint. Finally arriving at the solution. Example:
Run to Fit. Run - ___ - ___ - Fit.
The solution?
Run - Fun - Fin - Fit
This activity book has many word ladders prepared with answer keys. Includes a nice PPTx version for showing step by step the solutions. Also, a generic template to use with any word ladder challenge.
Engage your students with these fun, challenging games. Here is a nice video, from the silent film era, showing how the game works!
